I had a client the other day that I suggest she look online for a dress. so I thought I'd post some websites where you can save money and get a great wedding dress if you are unable to find what you want in the stores.
DHGate is a website for products from China, sold at wholesale prices (dresses start at around $100), there are many, many options for modest dresses here. I am looking into purchasing from here in the future to offer in my shop. (Most online/physical stores purchase from here or one like it)
Beautifully Modest, gorgeous and moderately-priced gowns. Many local stores also carry this brand so you could look online first, then ask the store to order one for you, or try one on in the store first then order your size online.
Totally Modest, online, but based out of St. George, Utah. For full-priced items you must contact them, but the sale prices are moderate, the same as Beautifully Modest. I have linked to the sale page.
Ebay you might that I'm crazy, but I know a few people who have done this and were extremely happy with their purchase. Just take to a dry cleaners upon opening the package as it will have been smooshed in its box for shipping, and needs a good steaming (but not cleaning unless you can see spots from manufacturing, I would return the dress if so). These dresses either come from the manufacturer in China, or a dress shop locally/nationally trying to unload the ''less popular" modest styles.
Helene Bridal This is Chinese manufacturer site. Very affordable. The key to ordering online is to be measured by an experienced seamstress/tailor, to check the size guides provided on each site (as they may vary), getting the wrinkles steamed out as described before, and purchasing in advance to you still have time to make any changes before the wedding.
Here is an example of a size chart, and here is an example of measurements they will need.
I have personally ordered tailored clothes from Asia, in person and online, and have never been disappointed with their quality or fit.
Still Open!
Things may not look like very alive around here or on our Facebook page, but that's because we're expecting our first baby the beginnning of May.
Yes, the pics are outdated, but I have many, many styles and sizes of dresses to see when you come in for an appointment.
Also, if I don't catch your phone call or email in a timely manner, please do be patient with me and try again.
Thanks!
COLOR!
I had a great client the other wanting a pop of color and we discussed these ideas. Thanks Chelsea! Ways to add color to an otherwise colorless dress:
- Colored sash (latterdaybride.com)
- Colored shoes: You'll spend A LOT of hours in these, so make use they're comfortable (or slip-off!) (stylehive.com)
- Colored petticoat/underskirt (hotpinkbrides.com)
- Ribbon in your hair or some other pin/clip (snazzyjazzy.files.wordpress.com)
- NEW! Instead of a white tie in a lace-up back, switch it out for a colored one (http://ny-image3.etsy.com)
Check it out!
